Painkillers was developed with support from Arts Council England and was piloted in the East Midlands before running in Edinburgh for the duration of the International Festival.
The show received critical acclaim from influential publications including, The Stage, The Scotsman, The BritishTheatre Guide and The New York Times. Painkillers went on to tour to arts venues throughout the UK.
Painkillers is a pulsating exploration of the mind of Angela, a young woman who has killed. Over several interview sessions with Nadia, a journalist, her chilling story is uncovered.
A seamless integration of live performance, soundscape and film underscore shape this piece resulting in exciting theatre for a 21st century audience.
Fifth Word is currently working with artists to develop a new touring production for late 2009.
